SkinPen® + Procell™ Microneedling

For scars, irregular/enlarged pores, skin texture, and growth factor absorption.

What is Microneedling ?

Both devices used at Image Perfect Laser are FDA-approved electronic devices with tiny, superfine needles. Microneedling treatments create controlled micro-injuries to stimulate the body’s natural wound-healing process. The needles can penetrate the skin up to 2.5 millimeters, but a typical setting is just 0.5-1 millimeter. Unlike needle rollers, these treatments use a precisely-controlled stamping method to reach a set depth in the skin while minimizing excess damage to the epidermis.

How It Works ?

Causing controlled damage to your skin will prompt it to produce collagen proteins, which is the natural building block of skin that is found in granulation cells. The more collagen you have, the more elastic, less wrinkled, and better textured your skin will be. In addition, skin products are infused into the micro-channels during your treatment for optimal absorption.

Got Questions?

Is microneedling painful?

The procedure involves tiny needles that penetrate the skin. Although some discomfort may be felt, most people find this procedure relatively painless since topical numbing cream is applied beforehand to minimize any sensation. A cooling device is also used during the treatment to reduce any further discomfort. In addition, many patients report feeling relaxed and comfortable during their SkinPen microneedling procedure.

Most patients describe the discomfort as a slight prickling or tingling sensation, similar to that of an elastic hair band snapping against your skin. After the treatment, you may experience some redness and swelling, which is completely normal and will start to subside after a few hours. It is important to follow your doctor’s post-care instructions in order to ensure the best possible results.

Who is this treatment good for?

SkinPen is good for all skin types and anyone with sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles. Also recommended for scarring and stretch marks. It can also stimulate wound healing, as well as generally tighten, lift, and rejuvenate skin. It will improve the overall texture of your skin and help get its “bounce” back.

What can I expect during the treatment?

After a consultation with a R.N. and clearance from a supervising physician, a prescribed numbing cream will be applied to the area to be treated. This anesthetic cream will keep you comfortable during your treatment.

What happens after my treatment?

The cream will remain on for the recommended time of 15-45 minutes. Your skin will then be cleansed and prepared for treatment. Your Image Perfect Laser RN will move the pen over the area, working on it section by section completing 3 passes.

How will I feel after my microneedling treatment?

You’ll be hot, and a bit stingy. Your skin will be quite red and sensitive. The hot feeling will subside in several hours. The next morning you’ll feel tight and dry and still be a little red, like you’ve sat with your face in the sun for a whole day. You can put on make-up to cover the redness, but it will subside by the second day and by the third, you should be back to normal, with the redness gone.

What should the results look like?

Your skin will be clearer after a week. Texture, pigmentation, and scarring will begin to improve over 2-4 weeks. The results will continue to get better, with the ultimate results seen in a few months.

How long does the treatment usually take?

Together with the numbing cream, about an hour and a half.
